Pattern Notes

Four Small Motifs are worked together and edged to create Large Motif.

When creating Large Motif there is no ch 1 worked between joined Small Motifs. This helps create the open spaces in the final throw, as no joins are worked here.

Pattern

Small Motif (make 4 to create each Large Motif)

Rnd 1: With MC, ch 6, (dc, ch 2) 5 times in 6th ch from hook, sl st to 3rd ch from one being worked into. Fasten off.

Rnd 2: With CC, join to any ch-2 sp, ch 3, (dc, ch 2, 2 dc, ch 2) in same ch-2 sp, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc, ch 2) in each ch-2 sp around, sl st to join to beg ch-3. Fasten off.

Rnd 3 (Un-Joined Motif): With MC, join to any ch-2 sp, ch 1, sc in same sp, ch 3, (sc in ch-2 sp, ch 3) around, sl st to beg sc. Fasten off.

Rnd 3 (1 Side Joined Motif): With MC, join to any ch-2 sp, ch 1, sc in same sp, ch 3, sc in next ch-2 sp, (ch 1, sl st to ch-3 sp of adjacent motif, ch 1, sc in ch-2 sp of working motif) 3 times, (ch 3, sc in ch-2 sp) around, sl st to beg sc. Fasten off.

Rnd 3 (1 Sided Second Joined Motif): Work same as 1 Side Joined Motif, making sure to join to adjacent motifs in third ch-2 sp from the join.

Rnd 3 (2 Side Joined Motif): With MC, join to any ch-2 sp, ch 1, sc in same sp, ch 3, sc in ch-2 sp, (ch 1, sl st to ch-3 sp of adjacent motif, ch 1, sc in ch-2 sp of first working motif) 3 times, (ch 1, sl st to ch-3 sp of adjacent motif, ch 1, sc in ch-2 sp of second working motif) 3 times, (ch 3, sc in ch-2 sp) around, sl st to beg sc. Fasten off.

Edging of Small Motifs to create Large Motif (make 12)

Rnd 1 (Un-Joined Large Motif): With CC, join to ch-2 sp of any Small Motif adjacent to center joins, ch 2 (counts as hdc), 3 hdc in same sp, ch 1, 4 hdc, ch 1 in next ch-3 sp, 4 hdc in next ch-3 sp, *ch 3, 4 hdc in next ch-3 sp, (ch 1, 4 hdc in next ch-3 sp) twice, 4 hdc in next ch-3 sp, (ch 1, 4 hdc in next ch-3 sp) twice; rep from * twice more, ch 3, 4 hdc in next ch-3 sp, (ch 1, 4 hdc in next ch-3 sp) 3 times, join to top of beg ch-2. Fasten off.

Rnd 1 (1 Side Joined Large Motif): With CC, join to ch-2 sp of any Small Motif adjacent to center joins, ch 2 (counts as hdc), 3 hdc in same sp, ch 1, 4 hdc, ch 1 in next ch-3 sp, 4 hdc in next ch-3 sp, ch 1, sl st in ch-3 sp of adjacent Large Motif, ch 1, 4 hdc in next ch-3 sp, (sl st in ch-1 sp of adjacent Large Motif, 4 hdc in next ch-3 sp) twice, 4 hdc in next ch-3 sp, (sl st in ch-1 sp of adjacent Large Motif, 4 hdc in next ch-3 sp) twice, *ch 3, 4 hdc in next ch-3 sp, (ch 1, 4 hdc in next ch-3 sp) twice, 4 hdc in next ch-3 sp, (ch 1, 4 hdc in next ch-3 sp) twice; rep from *once more, ch 3, 4 hdc in next ch-3 sp, (ch 1, 4 hdc in next ch-3 sp) 3 times, join to top of beg ch-2. Center of Large Motif
Rnd 1:
With MC, join to any sc in center open space of Large Motif, ch 3 (counts as dc), (dc in next sc) 3 times, join to top of ch-3. Fasten off.

Border
Rnd 1: With MC, join to any corner ch-3 sp of the Throw, ch 1, (sc, ch 3, sc) in same sp, ch 2, (sk next dc, sc in next dc, ch 2) across to other corner skipping all joins and ch sps, *(sc, ch 3, sc, ch 2) in corner ch-3 sp, ch 2, (sk next dc, sc in next dc, ch 2) across to other corner skipping all joins and ch sps; rep from * around, sl st to join.

Rnd 2: Sl st to ch-3 sp, ch 6, dc in same sp, dc, in ch-2 sp, (ch 1, 2 dc) in each ch-2 sps across, *(dc, ch 3, dc) in corner ch-3 sp, 2 dc in ch-2 sp, (ch 1, 2 dc) in each ch-2 sps across; rep from * around, sl st to join. Fasten off.

Rnd 3: With CC, join to any ch-3 corner sp, ch 1, (sc, ch 3, sc) in same sp, ch 2, (sc in ch-1 sp, ch 2) across, *(sc, ch 3, sc, ch 2) in corner ch-3 sp, (sc in ch-1 sp, ch 2) across; rep from * around, sl st to join. Fasten off.

Rnd 4: With MC, join to any ch-3 corner sp, ch 6, dc in same sp, 3 dc in next ch-2 sp, (2 dc in next ch-2 sp, 3 dc in next ch-2 sp) across, *(dc, ch 3, dc) in ch-3 sp, 3 dc in next ch-2 sp, (2 dc in next ch-2 sp, 3 dc in next ch-2 sp) across; rep from * around, sl st to join. Fasten off.
